On Wednesday, 26 February 2025, ELATT’s Space in the Community Project Exhibition launched at Rich Mix, bringing together students, educators, and partners to celebrate a year of student-led projects in STEM and space science.
The day was filled with engaging activities and inspiring discussions, showcasing the creativity and curiosity of the next generation of space pioneers.
The event began with the final screening of the project, where students watched Independence Day, sparking discussions about global collaboration and space technology. The film served as a powerful introduction to the day’s themes of innovation and future careers in the space industry.
Following the film, Dr. Ana Pereira-O’Callaghan joined us online from Cambridge for an inspiring talk. As the Head of Strategic Research Development and Graduate Studies at Babraham Institute, she shared valuable insights on:
Dr. Pereira-O’Callaghan’s presentation emphasized how students today can become the future leaders of space exploration.
After the talk, ELATT CEO Anthony Harmer delivered a speech celebrating the project’s success and its impact on students. This was followed by the presentation of the ELATT Space Ambassadors Awards, recognising the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our seven Space Club members in STEM learning and teamwork.
Following the ceremony, attendees moved to the exhibition space, where students proudly showcased their projects. The exhibition featured:
Student Projects & Vox Pop Videos – Capturing the project’s journey from the beginning.
Virtual Reality ISS Tour – Offering an immersive experience of life aboard the International Space Station.
A Special Space Memory – Our media tutor, William, shared a photograph of himself with Buzz Aldrin, the legendary Apollo 11 astronaut, adding a personal touch to the event.
Attendees engaged with the projects, explored the exhibition, and enjoyed refreshments while discussing the students’ creative processes.
The Space in the Community Exhibition was more than just an event—it was a celebration of curiosity, collaboration, and the limitless possibilities of space exploration.
