How does it work?

The loan is paid directly to ELATT. We can help you with your application and answer any questions you may have about applying.

Advanced Learning Loans are a Government initiative to support students who are 19-23 who have achieved a Level a full 3 qualification and want to study at the next level (or study another qualification at Level 3). They are also available for students who are 24 years old or above and need support with funding their Level 3 and 4 qualification.

Is there any additional support?

There is also a discretionary bursary available if you successfully enroll as an ELATT student and take out a loan. Please note to receive this bursary you will be means tested and subject to an eligibility test.

What's more, as ELATT is a charity we don't need to charge you VAT – so when you study with us you're already saving 20% on the prices of other private training providers.

As part of this opportunity, you will also benefit from the following:

  • One on one CV interview mentoring 1:1
  • Complimentary monthly travel pass (subject to normal distance-to-class rules)
  • Childcare support paid in full
  • You'll receive extra resources, including books and extra class support
  • Interview clothes supplied
  • Laptop (based on eligibility)
  • Industry recognised professional Adobe and Microsoft accreditation
  • Software supplied for home use (including an one year license)

How and when will I pay back the loan?

You’ll start repaying your loan in the April after you complete or leave your course. HM Revenue and Customs collect loan repayments from employers through the UK tax system.

You can make voluntary repayments at any time in order to pay off your loans more quickly. You’ll only start making repayments when your income is over £25,000 a year. However, if your income falls below £25,000, repayments will stop and only re-start when your income is over £25,000.

If you’re employed, your employer will take your repayments directly from your salary. If you’re self-employed, you’ll make repayments as part of your annual self-assessment tax return. If you move/work overseas you will repay 9% of your earnings over the repayment threshold for the country you are living in.
