It's Not Too Late to Start: Free Adult Courses in London This September

September can feel like a deadline that’s already passed you by. Everyone else seems to have gone “back to learning” while you’re still wondering if you missed your chance. If you’re searching for adult courses in London and worrying you’ve left it too late, here’s the good news: you haven’t.

At ELATT, enrolment doesn’t slam shut on the first of September. We know life doesn’t always fit around a school calendar, so many of our courses have flexible start dates and rolling intake throughout the term. Whether you’re unemployed and ready to retrain, working and looking for progression, or simply want to build confidence and new skills, there’s still time to start.

September Isn't a Deadline

A lot of people assume that if they haven’t signed up by the first week of term, they’ve missed out for the whole year. That’s just not true at ELATT. Many courses run rolling or staggered starts and accept new learners throughout the year, so you can join partway through.

What You Can Study Right Now

Whatever direction you’re hoping to move in, there’s likely a course that fits. Right now, we have space across a range of areas, including:

  • Digital and tech skills, including Software Development and Computer Engineering.
  • Health and Social Care, for people who want to move into caring, supportive roles.
  • Hospitality and Catering, for hands-on, practical training with real progression routes.
  • Early Years, for anyone considering a career working with young children.
  • Youth Work, for people who want to support and work with young people.
  • Business Support, for anyone who’d like to gain essential office, digital, and customer service skills.

Alongside your main course, you’ll also study additional subjects chosen to match your level, based on a short assessment when you join. These may include Functional Skills English, Functional Skills Maths, Professional Development, or Digital Skills.

Each of these is designed to be practical and career-focused, not just theory for the sake of it. You’ll be working towards real qualifications and, where relevant, real routes into employment or further study.

Free Courses, Funded by the Mayor of London

All courses at ELATT are free and fully funded by the Mayor of London. That means no course fees for eligible learners. As a charity, removing financial barriers to learning is central to what we do, so if funding is your worry, that’s exactly what our team can talk you through.

What Studying With Us Actually Looks Like

Starting something new in September (or October, or November) can feel daunting, especially if it’s been a while since you were last in a classroom. Here’s what to expect:
