Tots and Toddlers Book Clubs are family reading programmes consisting of learning and development for children aged 0-4. We aim to help families who want to improve their spoken and written English who may be new to the UK, unemployed and/or living in deprived boroughs. Parents and children get involved through the introduction and exploration of books, song, rhyme and book choosing. We firmly believe learning together as a family can create remarkable results and real community integration.

Why are Tots and Toddlers Book Clubs so great?

We are super proud of the programme and we know that even more communities can benefit from the great success the clubs are achieving. Why are the clubs so credible though?

  • The clubs have been designed in consultation with childcare professionals and will be delivered by ESOL teaching professionals, childcare specialists and supported by volunteer teaching assistants.
  • The sessions will follow National Literacy Trust guidelines on storytelling with children.
  • The clubs will be offered alongside a free English language programme for deprived parents in the community.
  • The ultimate aim of the clubs will be to engender richer home learning environments for children in less advantaged families.
  • Children will develop an interest in and enthusiasm for exploring books, early reading and being read to by their parents, giving them an equal opportunity for success once they move on to primary school.
