At ELATT, our mission has always been to inspire individuals to achieve the skills they need to thrive in life and work. Our 2023 Impact Report and the recent Matrix Assessment highlight our dedication to this mission and our ongoing commitment to transforming lives and communities. In this blog, you can find ELATT’s significant achievements in 2023, insights from our latest Matrix Assessment, and how our partners’ support has positively impacted lives.
The 2023 Impact Report showcases a year of remarkable accomplishments. ELATT worked with over 850 students across various programmes, facilitating 1,345 qualifications with an impressive 91% pass rate. Our efforts in providing additional support for students with dyslexia and dyspraxia have further underscored our commitment to inclusive education.
One of the standout success stories is Valerie*, a determined and persistent student who joined ELATT part-time in 2019. Valerie’s journey from gaining multiple qualifications to securing a paid apprenticeship with Transport for London is a testament to the transformative power of education. Her story, along with many others, highlights the real-life impact of our programmes on individual lives.
Our commitment to providing a nurturing and supportive environment is reflected in the positive feedback from our students. In 2023, 83% of our Sixth Form students reported feeling confident and positive about themselves, with 61% progressing to university, paid employment, or apprenticeships.

The Matrix Assessment, conducted in May 2024, reaffirmed ELATT’s adherence to high standards in information, advice, and guidance (IAG). The assessment identified several key strengths, including our robust employer engagement strategy, comprehensive wellbeing services for both learners and staff, and our inclusive approach to education.
ELATT’s ability to attract a diverse demographic, including refugees and asylum seekers, and provide them with the necessary support to succeed, was particularly commended.
One of the standout aspects highlighted in the assessment is our dedicated support for personal development. “There is excellent support for personal development, with many examples of individuals progressing from learner to volunteer to staff member, with ELATT supporting training, experiences and qualifications to facilitate this.”
The assessment also highlighted areas for improvement, such as expanding support for learners with complex needs and enhancing career guidance and employability support. These insights will guide our continuous improvement efforts, ensuring we remain responsive to the evolving needs of our community.
ELATT’s IAG services are a cornerstone of our support system, ensuring that all learners receive comprehensive advice and guidance from enrolment to graduation and beyond. Our IAG provision includes an introductory session to explore each student’s goals and aspirations, continuous support throughout their educational journey, and assistance in overcoming barriers to learning.
Our employability advisors provide one-on-one support in job searching, CV writing, personal branding, and interview skills, with employability embedded in many of our courses. The integration of welfare, finance, wellbeing and career advice ensures that students have access to holistic support, empowering them to succeed both academically and personally.
The impact of our IAG services is reflected in our impressive retention and achievement rates. In the last academic year, ELATT achieved a 95.2% retention rate, a notable accomplishment given the complex barriers faced by our learners, including insecurity of residence. Our achievement rate stands at 96%, with 74% of learners progressing to the next level of their programme, 10% to mainstream Further Education (FE) providers, and 1% to Higher Education (HE). Overall, 89% of our learners achieve a positive outcome, with many engaging in voluntary work, work experience placements, or community activities. Additionally, around 50 individuals gained employment or supported internships.
Learners interviewed described the profound impact of being part of ELATT:
"I did not know how things work here, in this country. ELATT has made me know this now"
"I did not know what I could do with work, I was a [profession] in my home country, I knew I could not do that here, but they help me find something where I use the skills"
"I did not used to go out much, confidence no good, now I am very confident"
"I know how to talk to GP, teachers. I know how to look for work. I know so much now"
Our achievements would not be possible without the generous support of our partners. Funding from organisations like MarketAxess and Mimecast has enabled us to hire additional Teaching Assistants and support roles, directly impacting the quality of education and support we provide.
MarketAxess’s generous funding of our Disability, EHCP & Liaison Officer had an incredible impact at ELATT:
Mimecast’s generous funding of two Teaching Assistants continues to have a vital impact at ELATT:
