Build advanced web design and development skills with a free Level 3 Diploma

Take your next step into the digital industry with our Level 3 Web Design & Development Diploma. You’ll build higher-level skills across web architecture, website specification and implementation, and front-end development using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript — alongside core software design and testing knowledge. 

Study online with flexible options (daytime or evening) and develop skills you can use for progression into further training or job applications. 

If you don’t have prior experience, don’t worry!
We offer preparatory courses and support to help you build the foundational skills needed for Level 3.

What you will learn

You’ll build advanced, workplace-relevant skills through guided learning and practical tasks, including:

  • Customer support provision for the ICT professional: Provide technical customer support, gather feedback, and understand processes for improving how customers use networked ICT systems. 
  • Software design fundamentals: Build understanding of core programming, object-oriented programming, general software development, web applications, desktop applications, and databases.
  • Software testing: develop testing knowledge and apply testing approaches to improve systems and user outcomes. 
  • Website development: Understand web architecture, components and technologies, develop a website specification, and implement website elements. 
  • Software development fundamentals: Strengthen understanding of core programming, object-oriented programming, web/desktop applications, and databases. 
  • Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3: Implement programming logic; use variables; looping and branching; build user interfaces; capture/validate user input; store data; and create well-structured applications. 
  • Creating an object-oriented computer program: Work with more advanced programming concepts to implement, refine and test programs. 

Entry Requirements

  • English: Level 1 (Functional Skills, GCSE, ESOL or equivalent).
  • IT: Level 1.

Please bring prior certificates to your first assessment meeting. If you don’t have them, you’ll complete a short English and IT assessment so we can confirm you’re ready.
