ELATT's New Adult Study Programme: More Support, More Certificates, More Opportunities

Looking for a free course in London that actually leads to a job? ELATT’s Adult Study Programme has always combined vocational training with the right support around it. Now, that support has a clearer structure, and it means more qualifications, more confidence, and a stronger path towards good, well-paid work.

Whether you’re studying Digital, Business Support, Health and Social Care, Hospitality, or Child and Youth Work, here’s what’s changed, and why it’s good news for anyone serious about moving into work.

What's New at ELATT's Adult Study Programme

Every learner on the Adult Study Programme now studies two things alongside each other:

  • Your main vocational course, giving you the practical, job-ready skills for the career you want.
  • Wraparound support subjects, matched to your level after a short assessment when you join.

Your wraparound support subjects

Depending on your starting point, these may include:

  • Professional Development, covering CV writing, interview skills and workplace behaviours.
  • Digital Skills: Building your confidence with everyday workplace technology.
  • Functional Skills English, developing your reading, writing and communication.
  • Functional Skills Maths, building your confidence with numbers.

Not everyone studies all four. Your programme is tailored to what you need, and you’ll earn a recognised qualification in each subject you study.

More Support Now Means a Stronger Start Later

We know studying extra subjects alongside your main course is a bigger commitment. But think of it this way: every extra hour is another certificate on your CV, and another skill an employer is looking for.

By the time you finish, you won’t just have one qualification. You’ll have a fuller, stronger CV, real confidence in your English, maths and digital skills, and proof that you’re ready for the job you want. That’s exactly what employers want to see.

Built With Employers, Not Just For Them

We work closely with employers in the sectors we train for, from digital and business to health and social care, so what you learn matches what employers are actually hiring for.

This means:

  • Employer-informed curriculum, shaped by what businesses need.
  • Employer-led workshops and talks, giving you real insight into your chosen industry.
  • Direct routes into work, through placements, projects and employer partnerships.

We’re continuing to strengthen these partnerships, so your training doesn’t just end in a qualification. It ends in a real opportunity.

Training for the Jobs London Actually Needs

This September, we’re introducing new courses in Health and Social Care, Early Years, Youth Work, and Hospitality.

We’ve chosen these courses, alongside our existing Digital, Business Support and other provision, because there’s real demand for these roles in London right now. They’re also recognised as priorities within London’s wider growth and labour market plans, which simply means: you’re training for jobs that employers are genuinely hiring for.

Our Aim: Helping You Into Good Work, Paid Fairly

Getting a qualification is only half the story. Our goal is to help you into good work: a job that pays fairly, ideally at London Living Wage or above, with room to grow.

We support you towards this through:

  • Our Employability & Careers Service, offering one-to-one advice, interview practice and job search support.
  • Employer engagement, including workshops, talks and an annual Job Fair.
  • Employer-led curriculum, so your skills match what businesses are actually looking for.
  • Your wraparound qualifications, giving you a stronger CV from day one.

Is the Adult Study Programme Right for You?

The Adult Study Programme is for:

  • Unemployed adults looking to re-enter work with job-ready skills.
  • Career-changers seeking better opportunities and higher earnings.
  • Working professionals upskilling for career progression.
  • Parents, carers and returners restarting education after a break.
  • Adults from underrepresented communities looking for an inclusive, supportive way into work.

To join, you’ll need English, maths and digital skills above Entry Level 3, and you’ll need to live in a London borough. Not sure if you meet the requirements? Our team will help you find the right starting point. As an award-winning charity, all our courses are free, funded by the Greater London Authority and other generous supporters.
