At ELATT, we know that preparing students for the future means more than just classroom learning — it’s about real-world experience, industry connections, and helping young people see the possibilities ahead. That’s why we’re proud to offer meaningful work placement opportunities through our growing network of industry partners.
One of our latest collaborations took place with Structure Tone UK, part of the global STO Building Group, known for delivering high-profile construction and fit-out projects across London. This partnership offered a unique insight into the world of construction and business operations for our Sixth Form Business Administration SEND students, and they certainly made a lasting impression.
Our students visited Structure Tone UK’s offices on Cannon Street, where they were immersed in the dynamic world of construction and project management. Through a series of practical workshops, site visits, and collaborative tasks, they explored the wide range of career pathways within the sector, including roles in BIM (Building Information Modelling), document control, sustainability, social value, and more.
“I learned the importance of teamwork, attention to detail, and safety in construction,” one student shared.
“This experience will be valuable whether I pursue a career in construction, engineering, architecture, or project management.”
From presenting project reflections and exploring local labour data to understanding sustainability frameworks and bid writing, our learners showed curiosity, initiative, and professionalism throughout the placement.
We’re incredibly grateful to Meryn Humphries, Social Value Coordinator at Structure Tone UK, for her support in hosting and mentoring our students.
“The students from ELATT were some of the most engaged I’ve ever worked with,” Meryn said.
“They asked thoughtful questions, showed genuine interest, and approached every task with enthusiasm and dedication… I thoroughly enjoyed hosting them and they are welcome back anytime!”
This placement wasn’t just an introduction to construction, it was a demonstration of what inclusive, values-led education and industry collaboration can achieve.
