We’re delighted to share that ELATT has secured a second year of Reach for the Sky funding from the Civil Aviation Authority and Department for Transport, enabling us to continue and expand Project Elevate, our aviation careers programme supporting young people in East London to explore future pathways in the aviation sector.
This renewed funding recognises the impact of our first year of delivery and allows Project Elevate to build on strong foundations of creative engagement, employer insight and real-world learning.
Project Elevate is part of ELATT’s wider commitment to helping young people move forward in their lives by connecting learning to opportunity.
Through aviation-focused activities, the project introduces students to the breadth of roles within the sector — from engineering and operations to creative, digital and leadership pathways — helping them see aviation as a realistic and achievable future.
The programme sits within the national Reach for the Sky Challenge Fund, a government-backed initiative designed to:
ELATT is proud to be among the organisations delivering this work in London, supporting young people from deprived communities to raise aspirations and confidence.
During the first year of Project Elevate, students took part in a rich programme of experiential, creative and reflective learning, including:
Using cinema as a gateway into aviation themes, leadership and teamwork, students watched and discussed:
These sessions encouraged critical thinking around responsibility, decision-making and the human stories behind aviation.
Students heard directly from professionals with deep experience across aviation, engineering and leadership, including:
These encounters helped demystify the sector and made career pathways feel tangible and achievable.
Students explored aviation history, technology and careers through visits to:
These trips brought learning to life, combining technical insight with storytelling, heritage and future-focused discussion.
As part of Project Elevate, we collaborated with Odd Eyes Theatre to produce a short film, 900 Feet Up, created with and for young people. The film explored themes of ambition, possibility and friendship, reflecting ELATT’s creative learning approach as a powerful tool for engagement and self-expression.
We closed the first year of Project Elevate with a celebration event that brought students, parents, partners and supporters together to reflect on the journey and recognise what had been achieved.
The event centred on our Sixth Form students and their achievements. One of our students confidently delivered an enthusiastic presentation on the Future of Flight, sharing ideas, learning and aspirations shaped through the project.
We also hosted the premiere screening of 900 Feet Up. Watching the film together created a powerful moment of reflection on the project and the experiences it enabled.
The event became a shared celebration of what can be achieved when opportunity, support and aspiration come together.
With second-year funding confirmed, Project Elevate will continue to grow, deepening partnerships, expanding activities and reaching more young people across East London.
Securing a second year of Reach for the Sky funding is a strong endorsement of ELATT’s work and partnerships, reflecting our long-standing commitment to inclusive education, social mobility and whole-person support.
We’re grateful to the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport for their continued trust, and to the tutors, speakers and partners who make Project Elevate possible.
Project Elevate isn’t just about aviation — it’s about helping young people see new possibilities for their future, and giving them the confidence to take the next step.
