Our Personal and Social Development (PSD) programme, in partnership with the King’s Trust, helps Sixth Form students build essential life skills, employability skills, and personal confidence. Delivered alongside your main vocational course, PSD prepares you for further education, work, and life after school, in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The aim of the PSD programme is to offer engaging and imaginative ways of supporting young people to:

Learn practical skills to communicate effectively, work well with others, and make informed decisions in everyday life.
Take part in volunteering, events, and activities that connect you with local organisations, industries, and wider society.
Develop teamwork, problem-solving, and professional communication skills that employers value.
Build confidence, independence, and a positive mindset through interactive workshops and real-world projects.
Gain confidence in using technology, online tools, and professional software to prepare for modern work environments.
PSD is delivered through a combination of classroom learning, collaboration with external partners, and educational visits, alongside opportunities to try new activities and take on personal challenges. Sessions are mandatory and form an essential part of your study programme
You will take part in a wide range of activities and opportunities, including:
PSD is an integral part of your Sixth Form study programme at ELATT. Excellent enrichment and personal development support enhances student learning and leads to high levels of progression. By combining personal development with vocational training, you will graduate with recognised qualifications, real-world experience, and the confidence to take your next step, whether that’s university, an apprenticeship, or your first job. Our students have:
In addition, learners have gained work experience at Circle Collective, BT Sport, Inspire, Sopra Steria, and other local organisations. They have also collaborated with a local theatre company to produce short films on homelessness and community inclusion.
We actively encourage partnerships with local organisations to provide our learners with more opportunities to grow their skills, networks, and confidence.
